Jeff Cumberland signs Jets' tender

NEW YORK -- Tight end Jeff Cumberland signed his one-year tender offer to return to the New York Jets on Monday, possibly as the starter to replace the departed Dustin Keller.

Cumberland is expected to have a more prominent role in the offense after setting career highs last year in his third NFL season with 29 catches for 359 yards and three touchdowns.

His playing time increased after Keller, who signed with Miami as a free agent, went down with a sprained left ankle.
