Ruben Tejada placed on DL

The New York Mets placed slumping shortstop Ruben Tejada on the disabled list with a right quadriceps strain and promoted Omar Quintanilla from Triple-A Las Vegas.

Tejada suffered the injury pursuing a foul ball during the ninth inning of Wednesday's Subway Series game at Yankee Stadium. He departed with one out remaining in the Mets' 9-4 win.

Tejada spent seven weeks on the disabled list last season with a strained right quadriceps.
