Matt Harvey to try rehab first

NEW YORK -- New York Mets All-Star pitcher Matt Harvey, who has been steadfast in his desire to avoid Tommy John surgery, will make an attempt to avoid the procedure.

After getting a second opinion from Dr. James Andrews on Monday, Harvey has decided to try a six- to eight-week throwing program rather than immediately undergo surgery.
