The Giants are still searching for a 100-yard game out of Ahmad Bradshaw and Brandon Jacobs, but Bradshaw gained 86 yards on 15 carries and Jacobs added 19 yards on seven carries and were physical. The two running backs did their most damage through the passing game as they combined for seven receptions for 95 yards and two touchdowns.
Despite not having Mario Manningham and Domenik Hixon, Eli Manning still blistered the Eagles' defense for four touchdowns. He completed 16-of-23 passes for 254 yards and did this even with Hakeem Nicks having a quiet day. Manning avoided throwing an interception against a secondary that flaunts Nnamdi Asomugha, Asante Samuel and Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie by spreading the ball to eight Giants.
The Giants were gashed by LeSean McCoy for 128 yards and a touchdown. The Giants missed a few tackles but they did a terrific job in holding Michael Vick to 31 yards rushing and no touchdowns. The Eagles gained 177 yards on the ground as the Giants defense had to give something up but their longest run was a 21-yarder by McCoy. And they did with rookie run stopper Greg Jones playing limited snaps.
Perry Fewell's unit was able to keep the Eagles' explosive passing game in check. Vick threw for just 176 yards and no touchdowns and was sacked once. But he was hit a few times right at the end of plays before being forced out of the game with a broken right hand. Giants killer DeSean Jackson was held to two receptions for 30 yards and Jeremy Maclin was the only receiving threat with five catches for 69 yards.
The Giants did punt to DeSean Jackson but he was only able to return one for 13 yards. Steve Weatherford punted four times and two were downed while another one was called for a fair catch. And credit Weatherford with a hard count on a potential field goal that drew the Eagles for encroachment on a 4th-and-two at the Eagles' 22. That eventually led to Ahmad Bradshaw's 18-yard touchdown catch to seal the game.
The Giants overcame injuries to Mario Manningham and Domenik Hixon. They contained Michael Vick and DeSean Jackson. Offensive coordinator Kevin Gilbride called a balanced attack with 25 runs and 23 passes and found a way to pass against a vaunted secondary despite Hakeem Nicks having a quiet day. Special teams didn't make any costly mistakes and most important, Tom Coughlin got his team to finish against a team that had their number since 2008.
