Jose 'Black Diamond' Mendez

Mendez, a Cuban barred from the bigs because of his dark skin, was just 5-8 and 155 pounds when he pitched for Brooklyn in 1908 but was considered by many -- including legendary New York Giants manager John McGraw -- to be the best pitcher of his time.
