At 6-1 and more than 220 pounds, El Sid was large and in charge. He set a Mets record in 1985, allowing just 5.7 hits per nine innings. The following year he went 16-6 with a 3.52 ERA and 200 strikeouts -- tied with Doc Gooden for the team lead.
