After a long period of managerial instability in the Bronx, Torre took over in 1996 and served 12 seasons, winning four World Series championships and six AL pennants. Only once during his tenure did the Yankees win fewer than 90 games -- in 2000, when they won 87 and beat the Mets in the Subway World Series.
