April 3, 2011 -- The last time the Knicks participated in the playoffs, Carmelo Anthony was a rookie, Chauncey Billups was the NBA Finals MVP and the Sacramento Kings were a 55-win franchise. That was way back in 2004. But on this day, the many years of ineptitude, instability, scandal and, most importantly, postseason-free springs, come to an end with a 123-107 demolition of the LeBron-less Cavs, thanks in large part to Melo's 25 points. Afterward, Anthony, who has never missed the playoffs in his NBA career, proclaims it a new day for Knicks basketball: "I think everybody should be excited that Knicks basketball is back."
