He isn't likely to make the roster at this point, but Quinshad Davis has had a pretty good day. He had a strong one-handed catch against air and a couple nice catches in 11-on-11 work in the end zone. He has a really good frame.

Russell Wilson takes a break in between practice and his press conference to sign autographs. Wilson said he's leaned down to 215 pounds. Over the next two days the Cowboys will have their offense and defense work on separate fields so players can get a accustomed football again before the pads come on. Here's Jason Garrett: "Well I believe this from the bottom of my heart: football is as safe as it's ever been. And our league has done an amazing job putting safety first and there's so many different things they've done to that end. Obviously rules changes, equipment changes and just how we operate on a day to day basis. I think they've made our game better. One of the things that's happened is we practice less. We don't practice as much in the gear that we play the games in as we used to. But at the end of the day this is how we do it and we have to make it, we have to make the best of it and help take full advantage of this opportunity that we do in fact have. That's really our approach to it. We don't think oftentimes about the good old days. That really doesn't do anybody any good. We focus on what the rules are now and we create the best environment for our players and our team."

Receiver DeSean Jackson and Kirk Cousins connected again, this time on a post. As Jackson won to the inside he raised his hand and Cousins spotted him. Good work by both sides as Jackson did not appear to be the primary receiver. Jackson split the defensive backs, including DeAngelo Hall. Hall later talked with secondary coach Perry Fewell for several minutes.

He shot down the idea that his recent contract extension that runs through 2019 will be his last. "I've got no end to this. I don't see it," Carroll said.

On Anthony Davis returning to the fold, Niners LB NaVorro Bowman said he's excited to have Davis back but there will be some proving for Davis to do. "You know, it's up to him," Bowman said. "I think him leaving the game was him personally making the decision on himself. I think for him to come back it shows that he misses it, he wants it. This is not an easy game so when you make a decision to come back it shows that you still love the game and hopefully he comes back willing to work and just contribute the way that I know he can and the way the coaches know he can. So I'm excited about it."
