Signing a guy who's primary job is to mentor isn't usually a great idea. I am sure Andre Johnson expects to be on the Titans roster on opening day and be a productive player, not just a resource for Marcus Mariota and young receivers. There is no real reason not to make this move, considering his resume and professionalism.

Panthers wide receiver Kelvin Benjamin said "it felt great" to get back on the field Thursday night, his first full practice since suffering a knee injury at camp last year. Said there were butterflies on the first catch when he bobbled it.

Falcons coach Dan Quinn said the whole intent was to have Julio Jones just do individual drills today after Jones "tweaked" something on the first day of camp. Again, Quinn said Jones wanted to go through practice. "He's fit. He's strong," Quinn said. "It was just really my decision. I wanted to hold him out." Without Jones on the field, the receivers had close to 10 drops, including at least four by Mohamed Sanu.

Panthers quarterback Cam Newton has a personal goal in camp that he can't give up an interception to linebackers Luke Kuechly or Thomas Davis. Kuechly almost had one last night.

But he said that just adds to the chip in his shoulder. Also said he's taken time to try and "learn the business," study offenses and try to figure out why he had most of his success early in his career with Giants offensive coordinator Kevin Gilbride.

TE Ladarius Green, who had two plates placed in his ankle this offseason, said he's on the Physically Unable to Perform list because he's not yet full strength in certain areas, such as cutting. Doesn't see why he won't be ready for Week 1, though.
