Houston Bates hasn't won a lot of rushes but probably is better suited to stopping the run. He's worked with the starters with Preston Smith attending a funeral. But the other primary options there are more suited to pass rush specialists such as Willie Jefferson. The Redskins will need to keep an eye on the waiver wire as they try to full Junior Gallete's roster spot.

Corner Bashaud Breeland made another big play this afternoon. Receiver Maurice Harris ran a wheel route from the inside and had maybe a half step on Breeland. But Breeland turned at the last second and intercepted the Kirk Cousins pass. Breeland hasn't been perfect but he continues to stand out.

After having led the NFL in passer rating last year, Wilson returns his top four receivers. One of them, wide receiver Doug Baldwin, complimented Wilson on his haircut.
