Sando: Seattle's offense will get better

The Seahawks' offense hasn't looked good so far, but recent history tells us Pete Carroll's team gets better on offense as the season goes along, and that would make sense with this group.

Panthers linebacker Luke Kuechly asked trainer Ryan Vermillion for permission to hit the blocking dummy. He got the thumbs up to do that even though he is not in pads. When he gets the thumbs up to practice after being in the concussion protocol for almost a month remains to be seen.

Jeff Fisher on Todd Gurley: "We drafted him to be the back of the future. We didn't draft him to be the back in the opener."

Andy Dalton said coaches put an emphasis in training camp on having him extend plays more and create outside of the pocket. The Bengals QB showed that on his rollout that led to a 55-yard TD pass to Brandon Tate last Sunday.

I don't think Luck will play again on Thurs. night. If Colts sit him he will have 10 more days to rest that shoulder. U must think long term

Rams coach Jeff Fisher on Aaron Rodgers: "I know you guys hear it every week from every coach but he's very impressive."

Ravens coach John Harbaugh on batted ball rule: "My opinion is the rules should be as clear as possible for the officials to officiate. There shouldn't be rules out there that the officials struggle with remembering."

Bengals QB Andy Dalton on Seahawks CB Richard Sherman: "He's a player who understands how offenses attack ... We have to be precise with what we do around him." Dalton credits Kam Chancellor with setting Seattle's defensive energy, too.

Arizona HC Bruce Arians said he would "totally" support full-time referees. Said more games are being decided by calls on non-reviewable plays -- felt his team was on the wrong side of one last week.

The intensity and energy at Dolphins practice today was the highest I've seen during the season. New interim head coach Dan Campbell made his first footprint.

Coughlin: “Odell came to me this morning. I was disappointed, because I think he’s above and beyond that type of stuff.”

Tom Coughlin says he takes MRSA infection cleanup "very serious." NFL and NFLPA asked Giants to address situation with players this morning. As for Victor Cruz, he will not practice today. Also says Odell Beckham Jr. approached Coughlin this morning and spoke about extra curricular stuff vs Bills. "He's very competitive, very energetic."

Not all bad news for Panthers on the injury front. Wide receiver Jerricho Cotchery back in full pads after missing the last two games with a high ankle sprain.

Mike Rodak ESPN Staff Writer

Neither LeSean McCoy (hamstring) or Karlos Williams (concussion) will practice today for the Bills. If they can't play Sunday, Boobie Dixon will be the Bills' top running back Sunday in Tennessee, Rex Ryan said Wednesday.

Mike Rodak ESPN Staff Writer

Rex Ryan says it's possible that Bills will only keep one of their kickers, Billy Cundiff or Dan Carpenter, for Sunday's game in Tennessee. Doesn't know who will handle field goals in the game yet.

Panthers linebacker Luke Kuechly apparently still in the concussion protocol. No pads or helmet.

"I'm still going to root for my Cowboys but I'm going to have a hard time including him in the mix of my Cowboys."

The awards keep on coming for Panthers CB Josh Norman. The NFC Player of the Month in September was named the NFC Player of the Week for his two interception - one returned for a touchdown - performance against Tampa Bay. He will be rewarded for all of this with a big payday after the season.

Broncos safety T.J. Ward has been named AFC Defensive Player of the Week for his two sacks, six total tackles and a forced fumble in the Broncos' 23-20 victory over the Minnesota Vikings Sunday. Ward and John Lynch are the only Broncos' defensive backs in franchise history to have two sacks and a forced fumble in the same game. Lynch was in the broadcast booth for Sunday's game as an analyst for Fox.

Bill Belichick gives rare, wordy answer

Asked if teaching the rule book is an ongoing process, and if he has to teach all new players the rules, Belichick's response was, "I think it's a really good question, but it would entail probably a pretty lengthy answer." A what?
