  • Blitz 'em in Chi ... uh, Buffalo

  • Did you know?

  • The Jacksonville Bulls -- who drew the USFL's best crowd ever, 73,227 against the Generals on March 4, 1984 -- helped lay the foundation for the NFL's expansion Jacksonville Jaguars.

  • At the same time his son Edward DeBartolo, Jr., owned the San Francisco 49ers, father Edward DeBartolo, Sr., owned the late, great Pittsburgh Maulers.

  • The longest game in professional football history: a triple-overtime game between the L.A. Express and the Michigan Panthers. L.A. prevailed 27-21 in 93 minutes and 33 seconds.

  • Jim Kelly threw 83 touchdown passes -- in two seasons -- for the Houston Gamblers. He holds the single-game passing record, 574 yards against the Express on Feb. 24, 1985.

  • The USFL drove Rick Neuheisel to coaching. The 1983 Rose Bowl MVP for UCLA threw 32 touchdowns and 40 interceptions in two seasons with the San Antonio Gunslingers. After playing briefly for the San Diego Chargers strike team in 1987, he went into coaching.

  • Herschel Walker holds the single-game rushing mark, 233 yards against the Houston Gamblers on April 7, 1985.

  • Jojo Townsell of the Express holds the single-game receiving record, 249 yards vs. Memphis on April 14, 1984.

  • Fred Besana of Oakland was sacked 10 times at Tampa Bay on May 21, 1983, a USFL record.

Next: The Donald (Trump, of course)
