Jets to reward Edwards for playoff berth

Having led the New York Jets to their first playoff berth since 1998, head coach Herm Edwards will be rewarded with a one-year contract extension. Barring unexpected complications, the deal will be completed early next week.

The extension will carry Edwards through the 2005 season. The two sides have been negotiating the extension for weeks.
