Three-year extension includes $1.5 million signing bonus

The San Francisco 49ers reached a three-year extension Friday with backup quarterback Tim Rattay that will keep him in the organization through the 2006 season. Rattay, 26, was a restricted free agent with a $605,000 salary who would have been an unrestricted free agent after the season. He will receive a $1.5 million signing bonus.
