Emmitt Smith hurt in homecoming game

IRVING, Texas -- Arizona running back Emmitt Smith had his first game as an opponent of the Dallas Cowboys cut short because of a sprained left shoulder, and finished with the least productive game of his career.

Smith, the NFL's career rushing leader, left early in the second quarter. X-rays on his shoulder were negative, but Smith remained in the locker room after halftime and team officials said he would not return.
