Patriots' D holds off Raiders

Ken Stabler came out of the Oakland huddle at the New England 14-yard line with 47 seconds left in the game.

Fourth-and-5. The Patriots led 24-20. Mike Vrabel was ready.

Stabler tried to hit tight end Dave Casper near the goal line, but Vrabel batted the ball to the turf and the Patriots (2-1) handed the Raiders (2-1) their first defeat in Super League action.
