Even though it came with little fanfare, that the NFC won the inter-conference rivalry over the AFC on Christmas Eve was significant.

You have to go back to 1995 to find the last time the NFC won a season against the AFC. Sure, there have been ties, but the AFC has had a pronounced edge.
