Secondary holding back Lions
Due to its D, Detroit unable to take expected step forward in 2012
In 2011, the Detroit Lions went 10-6, making the playoffs for the first time in the 21st century. Instead of building on that success this season, the Lions are off to a 1-3 start, their only win a last-second comeback against a St. Louis Rams team that won only two games in 2011. There's plenty of blame to go around, from an offense that has struggled to convert in the red zone to a special-teams unit that has broken down repeatedly, but one of the biggest declines this year has been in the secondary, which has been completely rebuilt with disappointing results.
