2013 Colts NFL draft guide
Examining Indianapolis' draft history and potential picks this year
Insider's NFL and draft experts -- Todd McShay, Mel Kiper, Chris Sprow and Field Yates -- have teamed up to give a full breakdown of all that should be considered for each team as it enters the 2013 NFL draft. Here we look at the Indianapolis Colts.
G, CB, OLB, RB
Major need: They may have overspent, but credit the Colts for filling a number of needs already in free agency. Protecting Andrew Luck is essential to the franchise's sustained success, and left guard Donald Thomas and right tackle Gosder Cherilus have already been added this offseason. The Colts still need to add an interior lineman to upgrade over right guard Mike McGlynn.
Quiet need: Vick Ballard was a sixth-round revelation in 2012, and Donald Brown remains under contract, but the team would stand to benefit from adding an explosive running back with quick-strike ability. The threat of a home run hitter from the backfield would benefit Luck and take pressure off the offensive line. Ballard, who projects to tote the heavy load next year, had a long rush of just 26 yards in 2012.
