Big impact from bargain FAs
Nnamdi Asomugha among players who could pay off for new teams
After Mike Wallace, Dashon Goldson, Jared Cook and a select few others cashed in on big free-agent deals, the market slowed and NFL teams began to bargain shop. A slew of one-year contracts followed, with players agreeing to deals that were low on commitment and on guaranteed money to land a job for the 2013 season.
Let's examine five of those veterans who could play important roles this season on one-year deals at a discounted rate.
Although I believe Asomugha could have been a good fit in New Orleans playing within Rob Ryan's man-pressure scheme, the 49ers land the veteran cornerback on a one-year deal that has very limited risk attached to it (worth up to $3 million but with no guaranteed cash).
The question on Asomugha is simple: Can he still run?
