Tony Scheffler released by Lions

ALLEN PARK, Mich. -- The Detroit Lions have released tight end Tony Scheffler, who last played Oct. 6 against Green Bay, when he suffered a concussion.

The Detroit Free Press reported the move earlier.

Scheffler's concussion was his third in four years. Prior to his release, he had seven catches for 82 yards this season.

Scheffler, a Chelsea, Mich. native, is an eight-year NFL veteran who played four seasons with Denver before heading to the Lions before the 2010 season. ...
