Former Stanford quarterback Andrew Luck, the projected No. 1 overall pick in April's NFL draft, has been training with quarterback guru George Whitfield.

Whitfield, who worked with last year's No. 1 pick Cam Newton, said Tuesday he had three sessions with Luck in Los Angeles leading into the NFL scouting combine later this week in Indianapolis. He also said he'll move to Palo Alto, Calif., to work with Luck for three more weeks before his pro day on March 22.

"There are things he wants to work on, but this is refinement not an installation or a surgery," Whitfield said. "It's about getting reps and he's really a marvel to watch. Very sound. Very consistent. Physically impressive. A power guy. A strong guy which people underestimate. One thing we've been doing is working the throws out on the perimeter -- those throws outside the hash marks."

Luck is expected to work out but not throw at the combine. His pro day is scheduled for March 22.

The first round of the draft will be held April 26 at Radio City Music Hall. The Indianapolis Colts have the first overall pick.
