Police open criminal investigation into Manziel

Dallas police announced Friday night they are launching a criminal investigation into a domestic violence assault complaint filed against Browns QB Johnny Manziel. Manziel ex-girlfriend gets protective order

According to the order first obtained by TV station WFAA, Browns QB Johnny Manziel cannot see Colleen Crowley for two years and must stay at least 500 feet from her home and place of work. Manziel was being investigated for allegedly hitting Crowley last weekend but will not face charges. Story

A source close to Johnny Manziel who spoke to the quarterback Friday told ESPN that Manziel "is concerned" about all of the stories about him and said he is doing "all right." The source declined to comment on the family's push to get Manziel in rehab, or Manziel's father's comments on his son not making it to his 24th birthday.

Former Lions WR Titus Young has been charged with felony battery with serious bodily injury in Los Angeles County, according to court records. If convicted, Young could go to state prison. In May, he was sentenced to five years probation after pleading no contest to felony battery and as part of the May sentencing was supposed to spend one year in a San Diego drug and addiction treatment center and was ordered not to leave the facility.

According to pool reporter Peter King of Sports Illustrated (Super Bowl pool reporters are assigned by the Pro Football Writers of America), Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning threw just one incomplete pass in team drills during Friday's practice.
