| INDIANAPOLIS -- While many of the top quarterbacks have decided to hold their own personal workouts, Tee Martin showed off Saturday at the NFL scouting combine.
"I just want to show everybody here what I have," Martin said. "I don't think that I have to prove anything. I'm sure they know what I can do already. They've watched tapes of my games and things like that. "But I plan to go through all the drills they have here. I have no reason not to. I have nothing to hide." Marshall quarterback Chad Pennington, widely rated as the top signal caller entering this year's draft, has joined a growing list of attendees who've decided to conduct their own workouts next month. Louisville's Chris Redman, Louisiana Tech's Tim Rattay and Pennington are thought to be the cream of this year's collegiate quarterback crop, with Georgia Tech's Joe Hamilton and Martin not too far behind. Pennington has decided that he will hold off on showing off his passing skills until next month's individual workout at Marshall. "I'm not going to throw while I'm here," he said. "It's just been the advice that I've been given by my agent. I'm just going to do all the agility drills and the running and everything else that they ask me to do, but no throwing." Rather than showing coaches and scouts what he can do with a football in his hands, the former Thundering Herd quarterback is instead using the combine to showcase his other skills. "I'm just here to give my best effort physically and mentally with interviews and show people what type of character I have and then let them make the decisions," he said. "The biggest thing that you've got to remember as a player is that you've got to be yourself. "I want to show them that I'm the type of guy who is very humble and tells them straight forward answers to questions, and that I try to do everything that's asked of me and just give it my best effort." Although Pennington figures to be the first quarterback selected in the draft, he's not worrying about draft position right now. "I have no clue on what's going to happen until draft day," he said. "A lot of crazy things can go on with trading up and trading back and last minute decisions." | ALSO SEE Lack of stars at combine a boost for lesser-knowns Mel Kiper's top 60 NFL prospects ![]() | |||||
