"There was insufficient evidence to charge him in the case,"
deputy Contra Costa County district attorney Bruce Flynn said,
adding that a man who had accused Janikowski of assaulting him no
longer wanted to press charges.
Janikowski was briefly jailed in September on suspicion of
misdemeanor assault, misdemeanor vandalism and public drunkenness
after police were called to quell a fight at Slates Supper Club in
At the time, two people told officers they had been assaulted by
Janikowski, who appeared "very intoxicated," police said. The
fight allegedly started when two men approached the table where
Janikowski was dining with a female companion.
Janikowski was also suspected of breaking the mirrors off some
cars parked near the restaurant.
