Shockey has been practicing

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- A decision on whether to play tight
end Jeremy Shockey against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers will be made
just before the game Monday night.

Shockey, who sprained his left knee almost two weeks ago against
Atlanta, tested it Saturday for the second straight day.

"He says he feels better," coach Jim Fassel said. "I'm going
to be smart with him. He did well today. He ran around, and he
wasn't much more sore than yesterday.

"I want to see how he's feeling. I'll watch him warm up. But I
will do what's right for him and the team."

The All-Pro tight end is listed as questionable on the team's
injury report, which means his chances of playing are about 50-50.

The Giants (4-6) have lost two straight games. They probably
have to win their final six to have a shot at making the playoffs.

Shockey, who set a team record for tight ends with 74 catches as
a rookie, has 48 receptions this season for 535 yards and two
touchdowns.

Starting left offensive tackle Luke Petitgout left practice on Saturday after his back tightened up.

Petitgout tweaked his back in the weight room earlier this week.
He missed most of the season opener and the second game of the
season with back problems.

Fassel thinks Petitgout will start Monday.
