Giants' top receiver Burress inactive against Texans

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- New York Giants leading receiver
Plaxico Burress was inactive for Sunday's game against the Houston
Texans because of back spasms.

Burress, who leads the team with five touchdowns, did not
practice all week. Five-year veteran Tim Carter replaced him in the
starting lineup.

The Giants were also without All Pro defensive end Osi Umenyiora
(hip flexor), defensive end Justin Tuck (foot) and starting
cornerback Sam Madison (hamstring) for the second straight week.

Starting linebacker Brandon Short, who hurt his quadriceps last
week, also was inactive.

Defensive ends Mathias Kiwanuka, Gerris Wilkinson and veteran
cornerback R.W. McQuarters replaced them in the starting lineup.

Reserve linebacker Kailee Wong, who saw his first action two
weeks ago after spending the early part of the season on the
physically unable to perform list, was the most notable of the
Texans' inactive players.
