Garcia starts at QB for Bucs

TAMPA, Fla. -- Tampa Bay quarterback Jeff Garcia started Sunday against San Diego, returning to the lineup after missing one game because of a strained right calf. He practiced all week, but had been listed as questionable.

Luke McCown was the backup and Brian Griese, who filled in for Garcia during the previous week's 13-10 overtime loss at Atlanta, was the inactive third quarterback.

The remainder of Tampa Bay's inactives were receiver Dexter Jackson, quarterback Josh Johnson, linebackers Matt McCoy and Rod Wilson, tackle James Lee, defensive end Patrick Chukwurah and defensive tackle Greg Peterson.

Safety Paul Oliver, running back Michael Bennett, fullback Billy Latsko, linebacker Anthony Waters, guard Kynan Forney, tackle Corey Clark and receiver Malcolm Floyd were inactive for San Diego. Charlie Whitehurst was the inactive third quarterback.
