SCOUTING REPORT
Cards RBs lacking solid blockingArizona has the quarterback, receivers and playmakers on defense to be competitive in the NFC West but not the ground game or pass protection. That means the offensive line has to play significantly better to push it over the top. Making progress in those areas won't be easy this week. Seattle's run defense has quietly looked much stouter this year and its aggressive defensive scheme will attack from a number of different angles.

The game plan for the Cardinals' defense will be limiting RB Shaun Alexander's production on first and second down so they can unleash their pass rushers on QB Matt Hasselbeck. However, unlike Arizona, the Seahawks have the personnel up front to control the line of scrimmage. As a result, the Cardinals' back seven will have to play a big role in run support putting a lot of pressure on the secondary to hold up in coverage when Seattle runs play action.

Arizona (0-2) at Seattle (1-1), Sunday 4:05 pm EDT

SEATTLE (Ticker) -- The Arizona Cardinals entered the season with high expectations under coach Dennis Green.

However, the Cardinals enter Sunday's game against the NFC West Division rival Seattle Seahawks looking to avoid their second straight 0-3 start under Green.

After their slow start last season, the Cardinals went 6-7 the rest of the way, bringing optimism to a franchise that has been to the playoffs just once since moving to the desert in 1988.

But with shoody play from their offense line that has failed to protect quarterback Kurt Warner and get any type of running game going, the Cardinals again are off to a slow start. Warner has been sacked eight times in two games.

Last Sunday, the Cardinals got into the red zone four times and settled for three field goals in a 17-12 loss to the St. Louis Rams. The game also ended in laughable fashion.

After leading the Cardinals to the St. Louis 5, Warner was sacked for a five-yard loss with under 20 seconds left and then failed to spike the ball and stop the clock before a game-ending penalty.

As the clock ticked down under 10 seconds, Warner attempted to call a play at the line of scrimmage instead of spiking the ball. That confused his linemen and left tackle Leonard Davis was called for a false start with seven seconds left. Since it was a penalty on the offense in the final minute, 10 seconds automatically were run off the clock, ending the game.

The Seahawks recovered from a season-opening loss at Jacksonville by building a 21-point lead before holding on for a 21-18 victory over the Atlanta Falcons here last Sunday.

Matt Hasselbeck completed 20-of-31 passes for 281 yards and two touchdowns and Shaun Alexander rushed for 144 yards and a score against the Cardinals.

Alexander rushed for 154 yards and a touchdown in Seattle's 24-21 victory here last year. He was held to 65 yards and Hasselbeck threw four interceptions in a 25-17 loss at Arizona last October.

The contest marks a return to Seattle for two former Seahawks, defensive end Chike Okeafor and linebacker Orlando Huff, who both start for the Cardinals.

Matchup to watch: Cardinals right end Bertrand Berry, who had seven tackles and a sack last week, against perennial Pro Bowl left tackle Walter Jones.

Series: The Cardinals lead, 7-5.

Next week: Arizona hosts San Francisco, October 2 (Mexico City) Seattle visits Washington, October 2
