Redskins-Vikings Preview
| SCOUTING REPORT |
Vikings and Redskins showdown will have playoff atmosphereThe Vikings and the Redskins are both still in the hunt for the last Wild Card playoff spot in the NFC. The play of Vikings QB Tarvaris Jackson has improved over the last few weeks and the have two exceptional running backs in Adrian Peterson and Chester Taylor. Peterson and Taylor are running behind the best offensive line in football right now. The Vikings are the best in the league at running the ball and in defending the run.
The Redskins are coming off a two-game winning streak with some luck along the way. The Giants dropped a lot of passes last week, which helped the Redskins win. Washington QB Todd Collins wasn't as efficient last weekend as he will need to be against the Vikings this Sunday. However, the Redskins have re-established the run game with running backs Clinton Portis and Ladell Betts. This will be one of the most important games of the weekend since both the Vikings and Redskins are fighting for the last playoff spot in the NFC. |

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- Vikings cornerback Antoine Winfield and receiver Sidney Rice were inactive for Minnesota's game Sunday night against the Washington Redskins.
Winfield, one of the best tackling cornerbacks in the league, injured his shoulder last week against Chicago and did not practice all week.
Rice, a rookie who leads the team with four receiving touchdowns, has a sprained ankle that he called "the worst pain I've ever felt -- worse than broken bones or anything." He tested it out on the field Sunday night, running some quick slants and doing some agility drills, but didn't show enough progress to be activated.
Rookie Marcus McCauley started in Winfield's place and Troy Williamson, inactive the last three games, was up to take Rice's spot on the active roster.
For the Redskins, rookie safety LaRon Landry was active after missing practice earlier in the week with a quad injury. It was good news for injury-plagued Washington, which deactivated safety Pierson Prioleau (hamstring), tight end Todd Yoder (knee), offensive lineman Mike Pucillo (back) and receiver Keenan McCardell (calf), who was listed as probable Friday.
