As Raiders quarterback Kenny Stabler was getting sacked in the final seconds of a game the Chargers were leading 20-14 on Sept. 10, 1978, he knew he had to do something. So Stabler admittedly flicked the ball forward, and it was ruled a fumble. Pete Banaszak knocked the ball toward the goal line where Dave Casper ultimately recovered it for a touchdown. Errol Mann's PAT won it for Oakland. The NFL later changed the rules, not allowing a teammate to advance a fumbled ball.
