New Orleans Saints safety Rafael Bush was fined $21,000 for his helmet-to-helmet hit against Seattle Seahawks receiver Percy Harvin during the first quarter of their divisional-round playoff game, the NFL confirmed Friday.

Bush was also flagged 15 yards for unnecessary roughness on the play.

Bush led with his shoulder on the hit while coming over to break up a deep pass on third down. But their helmets collided as Harvin crouched and braced for impact. Harvin briefly left the field after that hit, but he returned to the game soon after.

Then in the second quarter Harvin suffered another head injury while hitting the ground after a legal hit by Saints safety Malcolm Jenkins. That second injury knocked Harvin out of the game and has kept him ruled out for Sunday's NFC Championship Game.

Three players were fined $7,875 each from the 49ers' victory over Carolina last weekend: San Francisco running back Frank Gore and wide receiver Anquan Boldin and Carolina cornerback Josh Thomas.

Gore grabbed the facemask of Panthers linebacker Thomas Davis. Boldin was fined for a head butt. Thomas threw a punch toward 49ers receiver Quinton Patton but was not ejected.

Information from The Associated Press was used in this report.
