ESPN.com's Power Rankings
This week's rankings were determined by a poll of ESPN.com's NFL staff: writers John Clayton, Len Pasquarelli, Michael Smith, NFL Insider Jeremy Green, Scouts Inc., and ESPN.com NFL editors Peter Lawrence-Riddell and James C. Black.

The Colts and Steelers were pretty much the unanimous teams for the top two spots in the Power Rankings. But after that, things are pretty much a mess. The Falcons check in at No. 3, but they were hardly a solid choice for that spot, with members of our panel ranking them anywhere from No. 2 to No. 9. It's a similar story for the Broncos (who were ranked anywhere from No. 4 to No. 8) and Seahawks (No. 3 to No. 9), who round out our top 5.

So in other words, after the top two teams, it's pretty much throwing darts at a board.

At the bottom, the 49ers are making a serious run at the Texans. After getting drubbed by the Redskins, the 49ers picked up two last-place votes. As long as the Texans stay winless, chance are they'll hold onto the last spot. But a couple more losses like the one the 49ers had on Sunday and it might not matter what the Texans do.

On to the rankings. Also, you can rank the teams yourself with SportsNation's NFL Power Rankings.
