LANDOVER, Md. (AP) -- The New York Giants nearly ran out of people to play defense, so they used a castoff from the opposing team to force the game-clinching turnover.
I'm a Fassel fan. The Giants appear to be lacking more personnel than they thought they lacked heading into the season. The Giants also have played with a lack of emotion, but I don't think Fassel is to blame for that. An NFL team playing for its postseason life shouldn't need a pep talk from its coach to get motivated.
Question on the 'Skins: Should Steve Spurrier let Patrick Ramsey finish the season as his starting QB?
Eric Allen played cornerback for 14 NFL seasons with the Eagles, Saints and Raiders.
Strahan had some terse words about the officials and Redskins guard Wilbert Brown. Strahan said he was defending himself when he was called for delay of game for wrestling with Brown near the end of the first half, a penalty that allowed the Redskins to kick a field goal. ``I don't want to be on the ground and have a guy come hit me in the back when the play is on the other side of the field. That's just stupid football. I'll take a 5-yard penalty if I have to defend myself.'' Strahan said the official who made the call was "looking the other way.'' "They've been looking the other way all year,'' he said. He also said Brown "ain't good enough to be in the league for too long anyway, so I'm not even going to worry about it. I don't know his name.'' ... Barber went over 1,000 yards for the season. ... Washington defensive end Bruce Smith hurt his back on a sack, but he returned in the next series. Smith is six sacks short of Reggie White's all-time record.
