PHILADELPHIA (AP) -- Rattled, hurried and battered for 2½ quarters, Donovan McNabb kept his poise, stayed in the pocket and picked apart Washington's secondary.

McNabb tied a career high with four touchdown passes, leading the Philadelphia Eagles to a 28-6 victory over the Redskins on Sunday. Three of those scoring passes came in the second half.

The Eagles are 9-1 for the first time since the 1980 season, when they opened 11-1 and went to the Super Bowl. They can clinch their fourth consecutive NFC East title with a victory at the New York Giants next Sunday.

"We knew it was going to be a dogfight playing against a tough defense," McNabb said. "It took some time, but we got the job done."

McNabb threw two TD passes to Brian Westbrook and one each to Terrell Owens and Chad Lewis. It was his second straight four-TD performance, fourth of the season and sixth in his six-year career.

Philadelphia has won seven of its 10 games this season by double-digit margins.

"They've been dominating this division," Redskins coach Joe Gibbs said of the Eagles. "They're well-coached, well-balanced and their quarterback is phenomenal."

Patrick Ramsey, making his first start of the season after replacing the ineffective Mark Brunell last week, couldn't revive Washington's sputtering offense.

The Redskins (3-7) haven't scored more than 18 points in a game this season, the longest the team has gone without scoring 20 points in a game since the 1930s.

"The best of the Eagles didn't show up," Redskins cornerback Fred Smoot said. "Maybe they overlooked us. They weren't 22 points better, but they came to finish."

McNabb ran five times for 34 yards, was sacked three times, lost a fumble and threw an interception in the first 35 minutes. He completed 9 of 12 passes for 93 yards and three scores the rest of the way. McNabb was 18-of-26 for 222 yards before Koy Detmer came in to finish the game.

McNabb's 1-yard TD pass to Westbrook put the Eagles ahead 21-6 with 9:01 left. His 14-yard scoring toss to Westbrook capped the scoring.

The Eagles took a 14-6 lead on McNabb's 10-yard TD pass to Owens in the third quarter. It was Owens' second, and last, catch of the game.

Owens became just the second receiver in NFL history to score 13 TDs in five different seasons, joining Jerry Rice -- who has done it eight times. He tied the team record for TD receptions in a season, done twice by Hall of Fame receiver Tommy McDonald and once by Mike Quick.

Todd Pinkston took advantage of Owens being double-teamed, catching five catches for 106 yards.

"We're a very dangerous offense because we have a lot of guys who can carry the load," Westbrook said. "When we spread the ball around and get everyone involved, we're tough to stop."

Ramsey finished 21-of-34 for 162 yards and an interception. Clinton Portis ran 17 times for 37 yards.

"I think there's always things I think I can do better," Ramsey said. "I felt for the most part I was fairly accurate."

The Eagles played for the NFL championship the last three times they started 9-1, losing their only Super Bowl appearance in 1981 and winning titles in 1960 and 1949.

Redskins RG Randy Thomas didn't return after leaving in the second quarter with a hamstring injury. ... Eagles LG Artis Hicks went out with a knee sprain early in the third quarter. He'll have an MRI on Monday. ... Philadelphia was without starting weakside LB Mark Simoneau (concussion) and backup Nate Wayne (hamstring). RB Reno Mahe (ankle) and backup DE Jerome McDougle (knee) also didn't play. ... Redskins DT Cornelius Griffin (hip) sat out, while three-time Pro Bowl LB LaVar Arrington missed his eighth straight game with a knee injury. ... The Redskins are 0-7 when Portis doesn't rush for 100 yards, 3-0 when he does. ... Westbrook returned his first punt of the season in the third quarter, taking it 14 yards. ... Owens didn't catch a pass until the third quarter.
