SAN DIEGO (AP) -- The San Diego Chargers' long nightmare is coming to an end.
And if the Chargers do go on and break their eight-year playoff drought, they can thank their anonymous defense.| Allen's Analysis |
|---|
Broncos at Chargers: Do the Chargers have the league's most underrated run defense?Yes they do, and new defensive coordinator Wade Phillips has done an outstanding job this season. He's done a great job of plugging in the correct linebackers to increase his chances of making this team a dominant defense. Those linebackers are the catalyst for this defense and they look like a fabulous bunch of players. It's easy to get the feeling that the strong play of the defense is contagious for every player on that team. After they make a big play the offense seems stoked to get out there and make its own plays. Eric Allen played cornerback for 14 NFL seasons with the Eagles, Saints and Raiders. Game notes
Tomlinson scored a touchdown in his ninth straight game, tying a team record held by Hall of Famer Lance Alworth and Natrone Means. ... The Broncos hadn't thrown four interceptions since 2001.
