The defending NFC champions struggled offensively against a very stout Detroit defense. The aggressive play of the Lions' defense kept the high-powered Seattle offense out of the end zone all afternoon. Special teams also played a role in keeping this game close as the Lions blocked two field-goal attempts.
Not the offensive production Mike Holmgren wanted to see, but the saving grace was the extremely quick Seattle defense. The Seahawks held Detroit to just 38 yards rushing, sacked QB Jon Kitna three times and hurried his decision making with constant pressure.
Matt Hasselbeck completed 25 of 30 passes (83 percent) in the Seahawks' 9-6 win at Detroit. That was the highest completion percentage in NFL history by a player with at least 20 completions in a game in which his team didn't score a touchdown.
