CLEVELAND (AP) -- Kenard Lang knotted his striped tie, buttoned his jacket and fastened the latch on his suitcase.Moments earlier, Denver's defensive lineman zipped his mouth shut and warned his Broncos teammates to do the same. The scoreboard said it all for them.
|Scouts Inc.'s take ...|
In a game between opposite franchises, Denver dictated the pace of the game with a stingy defense and balanced attack. The Broncos controlled the clock with their running game and then took shots downfield. Denver owned both sides of the line of scrimmage and the slew of former Browns defensive linemen played an inspired game for the Broncos.
After Gary Baxter's knee injury, Javon Walker (above) presented major problems for the Browns secondary. With the exception of Jake Plummer's two interceptions and a subpar performance overall by their signal-caller, this was an efficient performance by the first-place Broncos.
Broncos OT Matt Lepsis injured his right knee in the first half and didn't return. ... Browns WR Dennis Northcutt (ribs) and CB Leigh Bodden (ankle) were inactive. With Northcutt out, Joshua Cribbs handled punt return duties. ... Shanahan got his 135th career win, passing Weeb Ewbank for 18th place on the career list. Next up is Hank Stram with 136.
