Monster Park, San Francisco, CA
Tampa Bay outgained San Francisco 434-213. ... Clements wasn't penalized for celebrating his interception by banging on a drum behind the 49ers' end zone. ... Galloway surpassed 1,000 yards receiving for the season, making him the first Tampa Bay receiver with three consecutive 1,000-yard campaigns. He also aggravated a shoulder injury.
San Francisco defensive coordinator Greg Manusky used a variety of zone blitzes and stunts to pressure the pocket against the Buccaneers. His scheme created two turnovers four sacks. But the star of the game was MLB Patrick Willis, who had 20 tackles and two sacks. Willis was extremely active against the Bucs. He played downhill, attacking gaps and making plays in the hole as well as in the Tampa Bay backfield. With the 49ers defensive line doing a great job of maintaining gap control, it allowed Willis free to run and make plays. San Francisco QB Shaun Hill did a good job of taking advantage of short fields his defense gave him with the turnovers and led the 49ers to a good win at home.
