Zac Kromer, the son of Bills offensive line coach Aaron Kromer, has been hired by Buffalo as a coaching assistant. The younger Kromer, 22, was charged along with his father with misdemeanor battery in an incident over beach chairs in Florida last summer. The charges against both Kromers were later dropped.

Jordy Nelson said he had a "hiccup" with his other knee, not the ACL knee. He said Week 1 is not in jeopardy but doesn't know when he'll practice in camp.

A pre-training camp tradition like no other. Featuring its famed mystery meat, here's the "Mock Turtle Soup" that kicks off the Bengals' media day luncheon. Seriously. No one really knows what the meat is (or won't say). This soup dates back to the luncheons Paul Brown would hold after he founded the team (hopefully this particular bowl doesn't date that far back).

Here's where it will all happen for the Chiefs at training camp at Missouri Western State University in St. Joseph. Rookies and quarterbacks report to camp Tuesday and begin a three-day mini-camp on Wednesday. The rest of the players report on Friday and full squad camp begins on Saturday.

The Jets report tomorrow to training camp and they still have two ongoing contract disputes -- QB Ryan Fitzpatrick and No. 1 pick Darron Lee. Lee is one of only three unsigned first rounders. As for Fitzpatrick, it's hard to predict. You'd think the two sides would be motivated by a sense of urgency.

Bengals owner Mike Brown: "Vontaze Burfict is one hell of a football player. We want him on the football field. We regret that we won't have him for three games, but he'll be back after that. He's a difference maker, and we're lucky to have him."

Fitting that Dom Capers, the first head coach of the Carolina Panthers, will be Kevin Greene's presenter next week when Greene is inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Capers,with his 3-4 zone blitz scheme, was instrumental in Greene's career as a player at Pittsburgh and Carolina. He was instrumental in Greene's career as an assistant coach at Green Bay.

Should the NFL follow the CFL's lead?

Mike Golic hopes the NFL does not follow the CFL's lead by allowing coaches to be able to speak to their QBs while the play is happening: "I think it's a horrific idea."
