Speaking for the first time since his "we won the offseason" quote last month, Rex Ryan tells WGR 550 of his declaration, "I might not be the most articulate guy or anything else, so those things happen. All I meant was that we did so good, the players we had, I was proud of them, I was proud of the way they worked, I was proud of the effort they put in. And we'll see. I just think we want to show everybody that this is a good football team and we're working as hard as any team in this league."

First Jets practice in the books. Ryan Fitzpatrick and Geno Smith shared first-team reps. Fast start by Fitzpatrick (nice deep ball to Brandon Marshall), but he fizzled (two INTs). First-day rust. Excellent practice by Eric Decker. He looks thinner and quicker. CB Dex McDougle made a couple of nice plays on the ball.

Adam Jones, one of the players who helped author the end-of-game collapse in the Bengals' wild-card playoff loss to Pittsburgh, said today he's watched that entire game "about 10 times" this offseason. It's always tough to watch. Said Jones: "We kicked they ass the whole game ... And it hurt me to my heart that we let it go like that. But it's over with. It's in the past."

The Browns made the expected official on Thursday: DL Desmond Bryant will miss the entire 2016 season. Bryant, who tore a pectoral muscle in the offseason, was place on the reserve/non-football injury list. TE David Reeves was signed to take his roster spot.

Bengals today placed LB Vontaze Burfict on the active/non-football injury list. He joins LB Rey Maualuga there. Both could come off at any time once medically cleared. Cincy also signed former Charger safety Jimmy Wilson today.

There's a lot of good players over there, and it's just a matter of everyone meshing as one over there. If they get that together, they'll be a good team."
