Asked Sean Payton if K Dustin Hopkins' 53-yard FG miss left Saints back to Square 1 in kicker battle instead of confirming their decision. "That's a good question ... It's a good distance, he had the leg for it, he just missed it wide," Payton said, explaining that they'll go back now and really look closely at everything in Hopkins vs. Zach Hocker. "(Hopkins) has been fairly consistent in camp. He's striking the ball well. And yet you're hoping - I was hoping, certainly we all were hoping there would be a wider margin with either of those players."

With the Falcons trading for veteran guard Andy Levitre and some uncertainty regarding Jake Matthews (back) and Joe Hawley (knee), the opening night line vs. the Eagles has the potential to be LT Tyler Polumbus, LG Levitre, C James Stone, RG Chris Chester, and RT Ryan Schraeder.

Jen Welter Reflects On Internship

"I took every chance I could just to really get to know them for the men that they were," said the former Cardinals coaching intern.

Rate of 2-point conversion attempts slowed in final 2 weeks of preseason but still finished at 20 pct of all TDs, per ESPN Stats & Information. That’s twice the 2014 preseason rate and four times that of the 2014 regular season. Still not sure what it bodes for 2015 but longer PAT clearly a factor.

NFL preseason rushing leader: Lions' Zach Zenner, 183 yards. Receiving leader: Redskins' Rashad Ross, 266 yards. Both should have won jobs.

Likely destinations for Robert Griffin III

RG III's standing in Washington is tenuous at best right now, so ESPN's NFL Nation reporters rated which teams would have the most interest in the QB. Wait ... Giants + Eagles?

Bills have made 18 roster moves, trimming down from 75 to 57. Need to get down to 54 by tomorrow.

49ers cut free agent pickup Dockett

San Francisco signed DT Darnell Dockett to a two-year, $7.25M contract this offseason, but the team cut him today, according to ESPN sources and multiple reports. Dockett had 40.5 sacks and made three Pro Browls in 10 years with the Cardinals.

Care to try a carrier pigeon?

The Bengals have to get down to their 53-man roster limit by 4 p.m. ET Saturday. If they plan to cut LB Chris Carter, well, a call to let him know won't do the trick -- he plans to turn off his phone. "If you're going to cut me, you have to come find me," he says. A life-changing weekend

Legal FAQ: Inside the judge's decision

You've got questions regarding the nullification of Tom Brady's suspension? ESPN legal analyst Lester Munson has answers. He still feels like the league's legal position remains strong despite the ruling today, and this reminds him of a 2004 ruling involving Maurice Clarett. Looking at precedent

RG III a fantasy football bargain?

Not starting Week 1 makes Robert Griffin III an unappealing fantasy player at the moment. However, if he can get on the field, his legs give him fantasy value. Best bargains (Insider)

Titans trade LG Andy Levitre to Falcons

Tennessee will receive a 2016 sixth-round draft pick from Atlanta in the trade. Levitre signed a six-year, $46.8 million contract in 2013 with the Titans. He has not missed a game since his debut in 2009.

Paul Kuharsky ESPN Staff Writer

Guard Andy Levite was a bust with Titans. That they got a 2016 sixth-rounder and a conditional pick in a future year is impressive. Falcons clearly think he can play. No indication they managed to reduce his $6.5M base salary.

Tom Brady Sr. 'elated' over judge's ruling

"We're just glad that somebody saw the case for what it is, and that the Kangaroo Court is no longer in session," he told the Boston Globe. "It's rather ironic that they rushed to judgment to get it to New York only to find that in New York, justice is the same as it is in Minnesota, as it is elsewhere."

It'll be interesting to see what happens over the next two days with the Idzik 12 -- the 2014 draft class of former Jets GM John Idzik. It was supposed to be a watershed draft for the Jets, but there's a good chance only four will be on the 53 -- Calvin Pryor (1st round), Dex McDougle (3rd), Quincy Enunwa (6th) and Trevor Reilly (7th). That's a lot of swinging and missing.
