The club originally announced that Clausen passed the concussion test administered at Paul Brown Stadium, but Clausen later experienced delayed symptoms, according to head coach John Fox. Clausen also missed Week 17 of last year because of a concussion.

As the Chicago Bears search for a permanent solution at right tackle, head coach John Fox said on Monday that two-time Pro Bowl right guard Kyle Long "has enough practice experience to play both guard or tackle." Moving Long outside may eventually be the Bears' best option. So far, Jordan Mills and Charles Leno have failed to nail down the starting job. Long spent the final weeks of the Bears' offseason program playing both tackle spots.

First attempt? Not so good. Second attempt? Much better. Courtroom artist Jane Rosenberg redeemed herself with this strikingly accurate portrayal of Tom Brady. Note: She had no time constraints while creating the image on the right.

Jay Gruden names Kirk Cousins starting QB

The Redskins coach explains his decision to start Cousins over Robert Griffin III: "It's not so much what somebody didn't do; it's just what Kirk has done. What he's done at practice and OTAs has really opened our eyes and he's proven to the best quarterback on our roster."

Undrafted rookie placekicker Corey Acosta, a camp leg for the 49ers who converted all four of his field goal attempts this preseason, announced on Twitter he has been cut. No surprise there, given the presence of veteran Phil Dawson. But Acosta acquitted himself well, especially with his 50-yard FG Saturday night in Denver. Dawson, though, is 40 years old and in a contract year so Acosta could be called upon next season, unless rookie punter Bradley Pinion can pull off double duty.

Bills name Tyrod Taylor Week 1 starter

Ryan Clark says Rex Ryan's decision to start Taylor is about potential: “You know what you have with those other guys. … Here’s the guy with the most upside.”

The Bucs QB was initially hurt in the second preseason game but still saw action into the third quarter in the third game on Saturday. OC Dirk Koetter said the ankle is affecting Winston's play "a little bit," but added that he'd be "full speed" by the regular-season opener.
