Dolphins HC Adam Gase said it's going to be easier to evaluate rookie OL Laremy Tunsil once the pads come on.

Saints practice getting physical early with 1-on-1 lineman drills, then 9-on-7 run-blocking drills. Two guys who stood out to me in the 1-on-1s were Andrus Peat at LT and John Jenkins at NT -- two guys who haven't always thrived in those drills. Jenkins steamrolled rookie Marcus Henry on one snap.

Looks like WR Dezmin Lewis has held onto his spot in the Bills' WR pecking order. Ran with first team to start warmups today and is second in WR drills behind Robert Woods with Sammy Watkins on PUP.

Jamison Hensley ESPN Staff Writer

Ravens used their last roster spot to sign punter Michael Palardy, who has spent time with Raiders, Rams and Panthers.

Los Angeles getting to know the Rams

The five-county area is hungry for the Rams' return. Which is not the same as claiming the new fanbase is knowledgeable about the team itself. Learning curve

Dolphins HC Adam Gase said the preseason in a couple weeks is going to be a good indicator of where the team is right now.

Fans are now being allowed back into the stands at Bucs camp. I have not seen any lightning while I've been out here and have only heard thunder coming from a distance. Players aren't on the field, however.

Jenna Laine ESPN Staff Writer

After a 55-minute rain delay here at Bucs training camp, players came back onto the field briefly. More thunder though, which means players and fans are being sent back.

James Walker ESPN Staff Writer

Dolphins DE Cam Wake was pretty insightful on his extensive rehab from his Achilles injury. He said he knew it was bad the moment it happened last year against the Patriots.

Jordan Raanan ESPN Staff Writer

Victor Cruz told me Friday his speed is close to what it was before, it's his cutting that needs more work. Something to watch as he faces defenders Saturday at training camp practice No. 2 of summer.

Rob Demovsky ESPN Staff Writer

Former Packers tight end Jermichael Finley is at practice. Retired after his 2013 neck injury he still looks in game shape. He said he weighs 245 pounds, about 15 less than his playing weight.

Mike Rodak ESPN Staff Writer

Tough start to camp for Bills outside linebackers coach Jeff Weeks, who broke his foot walking down stairs while texting. Rex Ryan joked that there is no truth to the rumor that he was playing Pokemon Go.

John Keim ESPN Staff Writer

The Redskins' defense lacks some pieces, but what they don't have a shortage of is this: smarts. They have a lot of players who understand the game and know how to communicate it, from multiple players in the back end, as starters and reserves, to linebacker and up front. It's hard to say how far it can take them, but it can help them achieve more than another group that lacks similar parts.

Mike Reiss ESPN New England Patriots reporter

Patriots G Jonathan Cooper, who had struggles with injuries with the Cardinals (2013-2015), has left practice this morning after appearing to injure his right foot/ankle. He was lining up with first-unit at right guard. He was helped off field by two athletic trainers, walking slowly, before being placed on a cart.

David Newton ESPN Staff Writer

Wide receiver Stephen Hill (knee) getting the first day in pads off. The Panthers aren't rushing back all the players coming back from injury. Kelvin Benjamin (knee) and Luke Kuechly (shoulder) are in full pads.

Mike DiRocco ESPN Staff Writer

Jaguars WR Marqise Lee (hamstring) and RB TJ Yeldon (ankle) sitting out practice again today.

Rob Demovsky ESPN Staff Writer

Richard Rodgers' strong camp continued. The trimmed-down tight end snagged a ball away from Quinten Rollins on a seam route in 2-minute to help set up a touchdown dive by James Starks.

David Newton ESPN Staff Writer

You could hear the hit across the Wofford campus when cornerback Teddy Williams laid out rookie tight end Beau Sandland.

David Newton ESPN Staff Writer

Fans love it when Cam Newton completes a deep pass to Devin Funchess over safety Kurt Coleman and cornerback James Worley. Coleman and Worley didn't love it so much, tugging at the ball for a few seconds after the catch.

Mike Triplett ESPN Staff Writer

Sean Payton directing the offensive line as they hit the blocking sled on the first day of pads at Saints training camp.

The first play of team drills was a win for the defense as LB Shaq Thompson stripped the ball from Mike Tolbert. A few players later, the crowd cheered as Coach Ron Rivera jumped in the middle of a team drill and yelled at the defense for a lack of focus.

Jamison Hensley ESPN Staff Writer

Ravens WR Chris Moore is not practicing Saturday after being a standout early in camp. No word on injury. Others not present: TE Crockett Gillmore (hamstring), RB Kenneth Dixon (knee) and six players on PUP (Terrell Suggs, Steve Smith, Elvis Dumervil, Breshad Perriman, Lorenzo Taliaferro and Trent Richardson).

John Keim ESPN Staff Writer

One player who has been fun to watch mature: safety DeAngelo Hall. He's very smart at explaining coverages and schemes and the last few years in particular has revealed more veteran's wisdom. He's lasted long for a reason and they're trusting him at safety for the same reason. Guys like Hall and Will Blackmon can adapt to a new position this late in their career because they are smart.
