ESPN Monday Night Football analyst Jon Gruden had an interesting perspective on Panthers quarterback Cam Newton during Wednesday's MNF conference call. "He is physically different than any man I've seen play quarterback," Gruden said. "He looks like Charles Oakley or a power forward, He is built to last."

'Concussion' film sparks controversy

Citing studio emails leaked in the hack of Sony Pictures, The New York Times reported Tuesday that the Will Smith film "Concussion" was altered to avoid antagonizing the NFL. Still working to confirm the details on NFL Network report that Saints CB Keenan Lewis will miss 4-6 weeks after having hip surgery. A Saints source called the report inaccurate but didn't offer specifics. Losing Lewis for a lengthy stretch would be a severe blow for the Saints. He's a true No. 1 CB and arguably their defensive MVP over the past two years. Saints will count on veteran Brandon Browner getting healthy and CFL transplant Delvin Breaux playing huge role.

Bills 'concerned' McCoy won't be ready

A source tells Josina Anderson the team thinks RB LeSean McCoy may not be fully ready for Week 1. McCoy suffered a hamstring injury in practice Aug. 18. According to the source, McCoy is not at full speed in practice, but is doing rehab work, however there is concern he won't be in great "football shape."
