NFL/NFLPA agreement to enforce concussion protocol with fines and possible loss of draft picks is an appropriate response to the 2015 incident involving Rams QB Case Keenum, who was left in a game despite a hit that left him staggering. Mistakes happen, but protocol must be followed.

Free agent linebacker/defensive end Dwight Freeney is not an option for the Redskins, a source said. With Junior Galette lost again for the season after tearing his right Achilles Sunday the Redskins could use more rush help. But they won't turn to the 36-year old Freeney, who had nine sacks with Arizona last season.

The Redskins also waived safety Kyshoen Jarrett after he failed a physical. Jarrett suffered nerve damage in his arm during the 2015 regular season finale. The Redskins did not anticipate his return this season; Jarrett did not participate in offseason practices. He was a key contributor as a backup safety/slot corner and special teams player as a rookie.

Texans left tackle Duane Brown and defensive end JJ Watt will both begin training camp on the active/physically unable to perform list. They still count against the roster at this point and this has no bearing on their availability for the season, yet. The active/PUP list simply gives the Texans the option to have the players start the season on PUP if necessary. If that happens, they would miss at least six games, but the team has made no such commitment yet.

Ravens won't have to face Browns WR Josh Gordon (suspended first four games) in Week 2 but will see him at home in Week 10. In three meetings, Baltimore has limited Gordon to six catches for 98 yards and no touchdowns.

Gordon to be reinstated after week four

Adam Caplan explains why Browns WR Josh Gordon's "conditional reinstatement" should be a wake-up call and feels this could be Gordon's final straw in Cleveland.

Adam Schefter @AdamSchefter

Unlike other suspended players, Josh Gordon will be allowed to remain with Browns during his four-game suspension, per agent Drew Rosenhaus.
