Bill Belichick on the QB situation: "We had, finally, some definition with Tom's situation, so our priority now is to get Jimmy [Garoppolo] ready for the start of the season, for the Arizona game [Sept. 11]. That will be, obviously, a comprehensive process. Tom will return as the starting quarterback when he comes back, but in the meantime, we have to prioritize the first part of our schedule and that will be to get Jimmy ready to go."

In his first remarks since Tom Brady's four-game suspension was upheld by the court, Bill Belichick said Brady will return as the starter in Week 5. At the same time, team's goal is to get Jimmy Garoppolo ready for the first four games.

Bucs wide receiver Mike Evans was asked what he learned after starting 6-6, then dropping four-straight games last year: "We needed [rookie linebacker] Kwon Alexander a lot. When he got suspended, we lost every game after that. He's a big piece."

Louis Riddick does not expect New England's offense to change that much when QB Jimmy Garoppolo starts during Tom Brady's suspension: "I don't think there's anything that Jimmy can't do ... that Tom does."

Jamaal Charles was placed on the physically unable to perform list by the Chiefs. He won't be able to practice until he oasses a physical exam. Coach Andy Reid said he didn't expect Charles to pass the physical in time to participate in the start of training camp on Saturday. Charles missed the final 11 regular season games last year with a torn ACL.

The Panthers officially have signed safety Kurt Coleman to a three-year extension.
