Rams starters played about two series as expected against Chiefs. One touchdown drive for offense and valuable extra reps for young offensive line. Best news for team? No starters with any apparent injuries of note.

It's been a rough first half for the Vikings in Nashville; kicker Blair Walsh is now 5-for-11 in the preseason after missing from 48 yards against Tennessee. The Vikings rested most of their offensive starters, and they trail the Titans 14-3.

After nine series in Cincinnati's preseason finale at Indianapolis on Thursday, QB AJ McCarron had a relatively mixed line. He left just before the fourth quarter after going 15-for-28 for 219 yards. He also was sacked four times and led two FG drives.

Patriots fans celebrate Brady ruling

There were plenty of signs throughout Gillette Stadium to celebrate that Tom Brady's suspension was overturned. However, Brady wasn't around to see much of it as he and a number of other starters were sent home before tonight's game against the Giants.

Biggest Jets takeaway from the first half: QB Matt Flynn (10-for-14, 136 yards, 2 TDs) performed reasonably well for a guy who hadn't played a game since last December. He made 1 horrible decision, resulting in an interception near his goal line, but he didn't look out of place. Looks like he'll be the No. 2 for Week 1...and until Geno Smith is healthy.

Surprised to see Bryce Brown playing this deep into the game. Bills could need him if McCoy, Karlos Williams aren’t 100% — or 50% — for Wk 1

Brady's return improves Patriots' chances

According to ESPN's Football Power Index, the Patriots are now favored in each of their first four games with Brady playing and also now have a 3-in-4 chance of reaching the playoffs.

The Panthers rushed for only 276 yards in their first three preseason games. They had 205 with less than three minutes left in the first half against Pittsburgh. Rookie Cameron Artis-Payne showed why he led the SEC in rushing last season at Auburn, gaining 67 yards on 12 carries. He could be a fifth-round steal and solid insurance for starter Jonathan Stewart, who has had his share of injuries.

With a 6-0 lead at halftime, Marvin Lewis had reason to be pleased Thursday night at Indianapolis: Anytime they don't score on you, I guess you have to say it was a pretty good half."

With a very competitive situation in their secondary, the Texans gave a good long look to their safeties and corners early against the Dallas Cowboys as their regular starters rested. Hard Knocks star Charles James started the game as did corners Kevin Johnson and Jumal Rolle. At safety the Texans used Lonnie Ballentine and Andre Hal.

Ravens get big plays from WR Marlon Brown (42-yard catch) and Asa Jackson (53-yard punt return that should've been a TD) but penalties (7 for 109 yards) continue to cost them this preseason

Vaughn McClure ESPN Staff Writer

Falcons said before halftime that they are not trying to trade demoted offensive guard Jon Asamoah, who is not in uniform and not on the field. We will see what coach Dan Quinn says about the situation afterward.
