NFL Coach Approval Ratings - Week 17
This NFL season, we're giving you, SportsNation, the opportunity to cast your vote of approval, or disapproval, of the job your favorite team's head coach is doing. Is he molding a winning team and inspiring championship-level play from his team? Or is he constantly tinkering with the offense and defense resulting in sloppy, erratic play? Is he making good decisions on the field and saying all the right things off the field? Or is he making crucial mistakes that cost the team games and then deflecting the blame?
The following are the latest results from the 2009 SportsNation NFL Head Coach Approval Ratings:
| NFL Coach Approval Ratings - Week 17 | |
Norv Turner | Chargers 23, Redskins 20 My wife, a non football fan just asked me how the Skins are doing this year. At that moment Campbell threw a pass to a wide open Mitchell and he dropped it. My reply was, "Does that answer your question?" Vote |
Mike Singletary | 49ers 28, Rams 6 joshracer2003: Thank you Frank Gore for leading me to my fantasy leauge championship. giantsfankcw: At least we're ending it strong. Vote |
Rex Ryan | Jets 37, Bengals 0 5phoenix555: Must be nice to play a team that just lays down for you and you get a playoff position as a result. Also proves you don't need much at QB to make the playoffs, despite what "experts" say. NYJ have a killer defense, though, so they've got some hope. goliemaster11: The Jets offense consists of a terrible QB and an overrated running game that has only run well against bad run defenses and teams that sit their players or basically throw a game. Their defense has only done well against two, maybe three legitimate offenses, and that counts the Patriots in week two who had no clue how to pass, run, or block and the Texans in week one who also hadn't figured out what a football was yet. Vote |
John Harbaugh | Ravens 21, Raiders 13 Pass_The_Sticks: Is Flacco not allowed to audible? This team cannot handle a blitz at all. Vote |
Mike Smith | Falcons 20, Buccaneers 10 Bro_Montana: Good game, Falcons. When's the draft? Vote |
Mike McCarthy | Packers 33, Cardinals 7 verbpipe16: I would say Rodgers is very much showing he can be an elite QB, but of course this is only based on two years of being a starter. Vote |
Gary Kubiak | Texans 34, Patriots 27 slick0816: Way to go Texans. Mavericksfan121: Congrats to the Texans for their first-ever winning season. Vote |
Jeff Fisher | Titans 17, Redskins 13 un_campeon: Let's hear it for Chris Johnson -- NFL's running back of the year. Vote |
Wade Phillips | Cowboys 24, Eagles 0 FutureHorn3: Get off of Roy Williams. If you haven't seen how many times he's opened up Austin by clearing down the field, then you don't watch closely enough. Vote |
Ken Whisenhunt | Packers 33, Cardinals 7 keffo604: Nice to see the confidence they are showing in Leinart. LOL. adamanski10: Arizona should be ashamed of themselves. There are some community colleges out there that could beat them today. An offense like theirs should never be putting up a donut, even with back-ups in the game. Vote |
Sean Payton | Panthers 23, Saints 10 donkeyfacekillah: Mark Brunell couldn't hit water if you dropped him out of a plane over the Pacific. stilt2: Saints won't be one and done. Vote |
Tony Sparano | Steelers 30, Dolphins 24 Californiaz_Finest: I'm a Dolphin fan, but I just want to say that Henne is not our QB of the future. A little eye gouge takes him out of the game. Vote |
Todd Haley | Chiefs 44, Broncos 24 terry1362: I wonder what the Chiefs' record would have been had Charles been running from the start of the season? Vote |
Eric Mangini | Browns 23, Jaguars 17 GoBrownsNBuckeyes: The Browns are looking awful good today. Vote |
Marvin Lewis | Jets 37, Bengals 0 skonman: Wonder if the Bengals will show up to accept their paychecks this week ... they certainly were no where to be found last night ... and hiding from Houston is a pathetic excuse. berserkerloki: I was hoping the Bengals would hold off the Jets, but after last night, I feel that the Bengals can't hold there own and don't even deserve to be in the playoffs after a pitiful display last night. How do you get shut out as a playoff seed? Vote |
Jim Schwartz | Bears 37, Lions 23 chadrock1175: I think that us Lions' fans need to be careful with this draft pick confidence. Sure, the brass did their homework (or got lucky) and the picks from '09 have more than panned out. But, this IS the Lions and their draft history has been spotty at best. The belief that they WILL get four more excellent prospects in the '10 draft could set you up for huge disappointment. Vote |
Andy Reid | Cowboys 24, Eagles 0 FDNTHEGREAT20003: Philadelphia is the worst offensive team going into the playoffs out of all the 12 teams. Vote |
Bill Belichick | Texans 34, Patriots 27 MKL122788: New England isn't exactly trying hard to move down the field quick. Vote |
Perry Fewell | Bills 30, Colts 7 gravy0001: Bills should play this hard when it counts. Vote |
John Fox | Panthers 23, Saints 10 PanthersHeelsCubs: Fox obviously has no ability to evaluate players if he continued week after week to say Delhomme gave us the best chance to win. Moore has shown how unfit Fox is to do his job. Vote |
Brad Childress | Vikings 44, Giants 7 drock2410: Vikings are going far into the playoffs now that our offense is rolling. g-menfanforlife: Vikings will lose early in the playoffs. Vote |
Mike Tomlin | Steelers 30, Dolphins 24 68Sixburgh: Amazing how Pittsburgh can hold the lead when they use their running game. Shocking. JoeGreen1974: I thought for sure the Steelers would give up a kick return for a TD. Isn't that what they usually do after they score and gain momentum? Vote |
Jim Caldwell | Bills 30, Colts 7 JamonQuemado: I wish the Colts players and management would spare us the predicatable pregame talk of "taking one game at a time and going out to win every game." Let's face it, they didn't try to win last week and it doesn't appear that they are trying to win this week. If they were, they being playing their starting team, or at least playing them longer. Because they are playing to avoid injuries and rest players, they have squandered a rare chance for a perfect season. Why not go for a perfect season AND a Super Bowl championship? I don't get it. rockxwl: Take Peyton and the Colts out of their little bubble and put them into a snow globe and I see they continue to struggle. Manning may have become a clutch machine over the past few seasons but it's nice to see at least some things never change - like the Colts can't play in weather. HoosierColts1977: I am a huge Colts fan, but Curtis Painter is horrible. The worst player I have ever seen. Vote |
Tom Cable | Ravens 21, Raiders 13 pitthaus: Russell is a joke. He shouldn't even be in the NFL. He doesn't even care. Vote |
Raheem Morris | Falcons 20, Buccaneers 10 Bo_Montana: I'm not saying Freeman is going to be Manning, but cut the kid some slack. D12Magic: The Bucs need a few minor tweaks and just keep gaining expierence. The development of Josh Freeman is the key to the future success of the Bucs. Vote |
Steve Spagnuolo | 49ers 28, Rams 6 stljcw: Thank god the season is over. I say we get rid of Bulger, and consider trading the first pick for more picks and get some depth, a QB, and help at more positions than just one. But we need something. Vote |
Jack Del Rio | Browns 23, Jaguars 17 Hauburger: How in the world did the Jags get seven wins? I bet they make the situation even worse by fighting for, and getting, Tebow. Vote |
Jim Zorn | Zorn Fired After 12-20 Record T-Bone1985: It would have cost the Redskins nothing to allow Zorn to address his players this afternoon and then fire him this evening. Firing the guy at 4:45 in the morning coming off a tough loss and late plane ride is simply Bush League. This type of decision-making does not bode well for an organization looking to change its image. I hope they get it turned around, but it starts with having a little class. ibbqdbevo: I feel bad for Zorn, but I also hope this is the start of some major positive change for the Skins. Like to see Colt Brennan on the field next season. BRETADMDAD: Dumb move, consistency is what this franchise needs, and the skins played hard down the stretch. I would have given him a couple more years to get it turned around. florida_cane:. Zorn was over his head but it's not his deal, it's Dan S. who is the guy killing the Skins. watergirl301: Dan Snyder is 200 percent responsible for running the Redskins into a deep deep ditch in the last decade. He is responsible for the choices in overall hiring and management of the organization. QuietStormX: I am very glad Zorn is gone. I never liked him one bit after last year. Plus the way Jason Campbell was treated made me very mad. How could anyone work behind their offensive line? The Redskins never put their picks or money where the team needed after two years with issues like age and injury. kjsnyder001: I don't agree with the way things went down with the whole Shanahan thing, but good riddance, Zorn; you're not head coaching material. Snyder needs to fire himself and get someone to turn that team around. chrisbturner: Until the owner gets a solid GM in his organization that has real talent evaluation skills, stops bringing in so many old free agents with big tickets deals and commits to a long term youth plan, the Skins will continue to stink. Snyder thinks he knows more about football than he really does, especially player evaluation, and that is a problem for an organization that has not had a solid QB in over 10+ seasons. dan967p: Redskins fans need to realize that the only way to get better is to stop firing coaches every two years. Give them at least three because Dan Snyder wont find anybody to apply. Why was Zorn offered the head coaching job in the first place? Because no one else with EXPERIENCE wanted it. AndyMoo91: Zorn might be a bad head coach, but he was the least of the Redskins problems. This organization is just run badly from the top down, and the only way the Redskins will win again is if they can hire good personnel men that can draft because the Skins can not waste so much money on free-agent busts like Haynesworth. It does not matter who coaches that team, the Redskins will continue to be the Deadskins if they do not reform themselves from the top up. Vote |
Josh McDaniels | Chiefs 44, Broncos 24 pstoneabx: Smart strategy by Josh McDaniels, suspend your two best offensive players before the final, must-win game of the season. What kind of Jedi master taught him that, Belichick? Absolutely genius! R3i6nm8n2002: I knew this would happen with Kyle Orton. Last year when the Bears needed to win against a team playing for nothing, he threw up a stinkbomb too. Vote |
Tom Coughlin | Vikings 44, Giants 7 purduebasketballrules: At least, say the Chiefs, play with pride. The Giants stink. Vote |
Lovie Smith | Bears 37, Lions 23 jayeteee: Cutler's pretty good when the pressure of winning games to get in the playoffs are lifted off his shoulders. Vote |
Jim L. Mora | Seahawks Fire Jim Mora After 5-11 Season seakings02: Mora and Knapp are probably the only duo that could make this fan want Tom Flores or Dennis Erickson back! rossmartin74: I couldn't wait for him to get out of Atlanta, Seattle did a very smart thing getting rid of him after 1 season. PageZoso: Wow. I think the guy is a good coach, bad move. Try getting better players Seattle. LuckyLeighton: I am indifferent to Seattle football, but I think they have more talent than it would seem. They are in the worst division in football and should be able to win more games. Still surprising only after one year. Radazor: And teams wonder why they never win. They never fight through the bad times. Join the conversationVote |
